South and South-West Asia epitomizes the challenge of food security, both in terms of the present gaps and future challenges for its population. Food insecurity and hunger are enormously prevalent within the sub-region and is evidence of the utter lack of inclusive development. Even more worrisome is the fact that progress in achieving food security has stalled, in spite of improvements in other dimensions of economic prosperity.
MUCH ENTHUSIASM FOR RESEARCH IN THE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT
New Delhi: If the number of applications to the maiden PhD programmes at the South Asian University (SAU) is anything to go by, the young minds of the South Asian region sure want to dig deeper for knowledge. Take for instance the doctoral programme for Biotechnology, in which the university got more than 500 applications against 10 seats on offer.
New Delhi: The Department of Mathematics of South Asian University, New Delhi organised a five day workshop “Instructional Workshop on Applied Mathematics” during the second week of May, 2013. The workshop provided experts in Applied Mathematics from the South Asian region a common platform to interact and share their experiences.

New Delhi: Judge Helmut Turk, Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea gave a distinguished public lecture “The Work of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea” at the South Asian University, New Delhi. The public lecture was organised by the Faculty of Legal Studies of the university.
